| Shitake Mushroom Overview: While Shitake remains one of the oldest and most highly revered mushrooms in Asian pharmacopoeia for its extensive therapeutic value, its emergence in Western science didn't occur until about 1969. Early research studies on Shitake extract administered to mice implanted with Sarcoma 180 (highly malignant cancer cells) demonstrated high rates of tumor inhibition (72% to 92%), and in 60% of the mice the cancerous cells subsided altogether. These studies identified a polysaccharide now known as lentinan, as the key component responsible for the anti-tumor effects. In Japan, Shitake extracts have been utilized for enhancement and support of immune system function in cancer patients during chemotherapy, often resulting in mitigation of the toxic side effects of chemotherapy. Other compelling research shows marked benefits in aggressive protection and regeneration of liver cells. Shitake mushroom is the most widely cultivated mushroom in the world. |

| Reishi Mushroom Overview: Also commonly referred to as 'Ganoderma,' this particular mushroom is revered by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to be one of the highest class of tonics. Alongside Shitake mushroom, it has an unusually broad range of uses, but Reishi's use for ailments of the liver has been one of the longest standing traditional applications. In one study of hepatitis patients, administration of Reishi extract showed marked improvement in 92% of the 355 patients studied.
